What Should Be Included on a Wedding Invitation?
The six things every wedding invitation needs, the things that belong on a details card instead, and how to word the host line.
The six essentials
Who is hosting, both full names, the date, the ceremony time, the venue and its town, and how to reply.
That is it. An invitation that fits on one readable card gets answered faster than one crowded with logistics.
Host line wording
Parents hosting: 'Mr and Mrs John Byrne request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter…'
Couple hosting: 'Together with their families, Aoife and Michael invite you to celebrate their marriage.'
Both families: 'Together with our families' is the simplest modern option and avoids ranking anyone.
Move these to the details card
Parking, accommodation, transport, dress code, children, gifts, evening guests and the wedding website.
Add your wording once and it flows through the whole set.
